WordPress is a website builder and Content Management System and powers nearly a third of all websites in the world. WordPress itself is free (and beware we are talking about wordpress.org here and not WordPress.com) and is extremely flexible with thousands of themes both free and premiums (basic structure and style) and plug ins (add in features).
It is easy to use , flexible and WordPress sites tend to rate highly in search engines partly due to the SEO options available to use.

SEO (search engine optimisation) is all about of persuading search engines such as Google, Bing, and Yahoo, to recommend your content to their users as the best solution to their problem. Key words are a big part of this, along with speed, a responsive design, and good content.

What does responsive mean and why is it important?
A responsive website is strutured so that it automatically scales its content and elements to match the screen size on which it is viewed – often called “Mobile friendly”.
This process is imperative to make sure your website works well on all screen sizes so all can view it and it matters for SEO too.
Around 95% of mobile users now use their phone to search for products and services.
Why does my website speed matter?
Site speed is a search engine ranking factor and especially important for mobile pages. If your site is slow it probably won’t be high rated by google and if it take time to load customers won’t hang around and wait but go elsewhere. Ideally a website should load in 2 seconds.

All websites are vulnerable to hackers and spammers and need to be protected It is not simply OK to create a WordPress website and then l forget about it. It won’t look after itself!
A website needs to be on a secure server, backed up daily, kept up to date and managed. WordPress websites will need to be updated to the latest version of WordPress, Theme and Plug ins regularly.
Passwords need to be strong, your website should have an SSL certificate (this is important for SEO too).
What is a WordPress Theme?
There are thousands of themes available online and this can be a bit overwhelming. They split into free or premium. Free themes have limited or no support, and if they have issues or become out of date theres not much you can do. I would strongly recommend using a premier theme such as Divi , with many features, good support and constant updating.
What is a WordPress Plugin?
The more advanced premier themes usually need less plugins to function as they come with many extra features thats plugin also provide.
